This sequel to the first book, A History of Indo-Canadians in Ottawa: A Journey Across Generations, which was published in June 2018, highlights the continuation of the remarkable progress of the second and third generations of members of the Indo-Canadian community in Ottawa, in addition to international students and parent immigrants of Indian heritage. It shows how they are shaping the future of our city’s knowledge economy, and contributing to Ottawa’s innovation, dynamism, resilience, economic diversification, and rich cultural mosaic.
Ottawans of Indo-Canadian ancestry have made important inroads in the sciences, medicine, business, government, the technology sector, scholarly research and the arts. They are prominent local business leaders and philanthropists, as well as patrons of professional sports and the arts in Ottawa. The wide host of festivals organized by the Ottawa Indo-Canadian community attest to the cultural, linguistic, religious and geographic diversity of the regions of their ancestral homeland.
